Make plans to visit SouthDown Farm for the Kentucky Maple Syrup Day event to be held Saturday, February 4th from 9:00AM-4:00 PM. Dress warm, wear your boots and spend a few hours learning all about making Kentucky Maple Syrup! Lord willing, you can watch (and smell) sweet maple sap being boiled into maple syrup in our sugar shack, take an ATV tour up the mountain to see first hand how sap is collected from 330 trees tapped on our property and tied together with miles of tubing. Maple syrup freshly made this year will be available for sale along with our spicy/sweet dried hot pepper infused maple syrup (great on grilled meats or ribs), vanilla bean maple syrup and coffee bean maple syrup.

So, if you have the winter doldrums and want to get out of the house to enjoy learning about making maple syrup in Kentucky while stocking up on maple goodness then put on your winter boots, dress warm and come on out to the farm on Saturday February 4th rain or shine. Make plans to visit other maple producers in the Kentucky, Cabin Creek Farm (Thornton) and the Letcher County Extension Office are two other producers are right here in Letcher county!
